Promise of Victory

4-4-16_2 devo#HisVictory (Video Below) #WorshipDevotional There is no great effort of work apart from hardship. Building or rebuilding your dreams and/or work for God can seem like a towering wall.

However, where faith begins is when the wall of impossibilities become the victory of His possibilities.

“God gives us the grace to accomplish what He calls us to do. His commands are also His promise of victory.” – Floyd McClung Jr. Nehemiah and the people of Israel were under attack in rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem.

The enemy waited for the workers to tire. Their objective was to take advantage of their vulnerabilities. But God, had strengthened the Israelites through prayer and spiritual means as well as resources and physical means. Even though Nehemiah and the people of Israel had a huge project of rebuilding the walls, Nehemiah remained continuous in prayer. He took time to set aside his earthly work that God had called him to do, to talk to God. He used Nehemiah to speak words of encouragement to the people.

The people obeyed God’s commands in finishing the wall, which later led them to victory. As we go through our daily life, often we can become distracted with other less important things. These things that distract us from what God has called us to do, can become barriers to completing His mission for our lives.

Distractions can sidestep us from finishing a project, spending time with our loved ones and building relationships, or shepherding the ministry God has entrusted us with. Nothing satisfies the enemy more than taking us away from God’s mission. The enemy aims at the path of the Follower and can use distractions to knock us off course.

We have determination to finish the good work that God has placed on our lives. [ctt template=”10″ link=”42dTl” via=”no” ]”The good” we do in ministry should never take away from our time with God.[/ctt] As long as we are engaged in ministry and/or spiritual work, we are also engage in spiritual warfare.

Nevertheless, God equips us with spiritual armor as we find in Ephesians 6, and encourages us to “be strong in the Lord.” Here are 4 tools from Ephesians 6 to fight off distractions from the enemy:

  1. Put On: Serving in ministry is not for the weak, and it requires a daily “workout” of being in the Word. Many times, the hurtful things people say or the unfair criticism we hear feels personal. We can take a stand against the attacks by putting on our armor. By taking our battles to God, and letting Him take over the fight for us, the enemy will flee. -James 4.7
  2. Take Up: We have the best tool to ward off the enemy’s distractions: His Word. The “word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword.” -Hebrews 4.12
  3. Stand Firm: It takes strength and courage to stand firm in Christ. Be confident in your relationship with God and trust that He will never fail you.
  4. Pray: We were not made to fight the enemy on our own. Pray through out the day that God will give you the strength and encouragement. -1Thes.5.17 He knows what we need, and we should ask Him for it. He knows what our struggles are, and we should ask Him to remove them
God promises to never leave or forsake us. -Deut.31.6 [ctt template=”10″ link=”9x_vd” via=”no” ]Rest in the confidence that God is already in the tomorrow. He holds our future.[/ctt] As we continue our work in the Lord, may we follow His commands under His protection. Let us find spiritual strength as we remain diligent. As we seek God’s victory, may we serve faithfully in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Reflection: It’s easy to throw in the towel when battles get tough, how do you remain in the strength of God? What has God promised you that He will do (from His Word) as you seek Him first?

Review: When you love the people in your church more than the music, you help and enable worship leading to be in its truest form. Were you able to see past this towering wall to lead the people of God in His worship? What about your team? [ctt template=”10″ link=”35uSt” via=”no” ]Leading worship is about leading relationships. Making music is about making great melody in your heart by Christ.[/ctt]
