Sing Out!

4_7_16#SingItOut God gave you a voice, filled you with His Spirit and has chosen you to make melody of what He is doing. Be encouraged and encourage your church, to be a vessel of His work.

Stop asking “why” and start saying “now.” Sing Out to the Lord a new song in all of His workings – this is why we sing #Psalm96.1 Does He really care about the kind of songs we sing, or is He more concerned about the contrite melodies of our hearts? #Psalm51.17 “Praise the Lord.

How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!” Psalm 147:1 NIV It is good to praise the Lord, when He comes and makes our hearts right.

In worship, we respond to what God has done, is doing and is about to do. The melody He sings over us, resounds in our hearts, we echo back to Him in sung prayer. “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.

He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” #Zeph3.17 Personally, I don’t want to have in my heart, anything less of worth than what Christ has given me. Therefore, all I have to give to God is my entire being #Rom12.1.

I can worship Him with a pure heart because His love cleanses me. It is no longer I who lives, but Christ who lives in me #Gal2.20. God gave you a voice, filled you with His Spirit and has chosen you to make melody of what He is doing. Encourage your church, be a vessel of His work. Stop asking “why” and start saying “now.” Why get caught up in someone else’s song, when God has called you to sing His story?

Defeat the Vocal Barriers:
Lack of confidence is a huge vocal barrier. Embrace the voice God gave you. Sing without fear to the Lord. Imagine yourself right before the Lord in your quiet time.

Next, imagine yourself in your living room with the people of the church. They are there for the same reason you are – to worship God. Change your perspective of why you worship and this will change your confidence to point to God in worship.

Moses replied: “It is not the sound of victory, it is not the sound of defeat; it is the sound of singing that I hear.” Ex 32.12

Learn to Sing Out:
This means to use both your chest and head voice. The art of singing free is to control the amount of head and chest voice into developing a mix. Head and chest voice is produced in two different ways: the larynx produces notes in the lower resonant registers, where the tone lives in the chest.

When vocal sounds move up behind the soft palate and up into the head, the sound finds itself in higher resonant spaces and registers thus producing head voice. Sing like you speak. Sing like you breathe. When you balance the mix you sing easy.

Sing on Time:
Make every word count. Good drummers and musicians alike are always thinking about each note and time. Listen to great-recorded singers. You will hear how they are not lazy with their words. Good singers execute each syllable and rhythm as clearly as possible to stay in tempo. When our facial muscles and lips are slow to move, they simply get in the way of the voice. When this happens, the vocal line drags and makes everything else feel disconnected and obscure.

Sing the Work of God:
The Bible is serious about singing, God put certain people in charge to care for it. We find this in 1 Chron 15.22: “Kenaniah the head Levite was in charge of the singing; that was his responsibility because he was skillful at it.” Fulfill the calling He placed inside of you.

Has he not chosen you to be Christ’s ambassador and to use your skill as a tool, as a purpose, as a mission? “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands,” #2Tim1.6 Be encouraged wherever you are in this point of life: God desires you to be led in His worship first – making your heart pure.

As he uses you, He is making His work known. Each of us our accountable to how we live our lives and use them to worship the Lord. Nothing else can compare.

“That my heart may sing your praises and not be silent.

Lord my God,  I will praise you forever.”

– Psalm 30.12

We sing of the Lord’s faithful song and His beauty that’s making us new. Why we sing is because of what He’s done. Why we worship is because of who He is. Why we lead is because of Him of who we follow. Why we serve is because of Jesus who served and loved us first. Sing the story God gave you.
