He Goes Before Us (Show #14)

#BeforeUs (Video Below)

Are you at your wit’s end? Are you so consumed by the busyness of being a Christian, a servant, a leader, worker, or volunteer that you can’t find time to focus on the business of worshiping God? Sometimes we find it difficult to call upon God, but He is here.

What is your call, are you letting Him go before you? In my own walk I find it very difficult to say no to added work and responsibility because I like to help, I like to work, and I enjoy servant-hood.

Each and everyone of us, however, needs to know our limitations to avoid feeling constantly drained or overwhelmed. Here’s a short list of what is currently on my plate: a husband and father, project manager,  worship leader, contributing author to Worship Team Training, circuit bike rider ministry and home builder.

Needless to say, it has been quite difficult to manage my time in a way that is healthy. For the past several months, I’ve been burning my candle at both ends. My focus has been so much on busyness that I couldn’t focus on the business of worshiping God! I had to stop and cry out to God for help! Psalm 107:6: “Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He delivered them out of their distresses.” I sometimes forget that when I feel overwhelmed or heavily burdened all I have to do is call on God.

He is always faithful. 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” It is reassuring to know that no matter the circumstance, we can always depend on our Heavenly Father and that He loves us and cares for us.

Jesus lived as a man and is fully aware of the burdens we carry. [ctt template=”10″ link=”Wj75x” via=”no” ]We don\’t serve a distant God. We serve an ever-present-with-us God.[/ctt] Deuteronomy 31:8 says, “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Just remember, it doesn’t make you a “bad” Christian if you can’t take on additional responsibilities.

Each of us is accountable for our own spiritual, mental, and physical health. Know your limits. Know when to pull back the reigns and take a break. Don’t isolate yourself. Ensure you have people around you to speak into your life. Most importantly, as my mentor would ask: How’s your prayer life? If your prayer life is suffering, more often than not, other areas of your life will be out of balance as well.

Keep God first! Praise and worship Him with all you’ve got! God guides our prayers to action and devotion. He goes before us to keep us from our wit’s end so He may begin His love in us.
