Your Voice Matters (Show #45)

#YourVoiceMatters(SnapStory Video Below)
Many people feel they do not have a voice in the world – or in the church for that matter. As a singer / worship leader, this can be especially frightening. It may not be the fear of lacking a voice, but losing it completely.

What would you do if you woke up today and God told you it would be your last day to speak? How would you spend it? How would you sing it?

Why am I writing this?

Because so many people, singers and volunteers in the church do nothing, because they are afraid of something else that’s bigger: fear. What is that fear? Over the past two weeks, I developed laryngitis. Sorry guys, that means our show will resume Monday.

However, this does not minimize the message, nor the voice from my heart. I need to share this with you today. God gave you both a message and a true fear. Knowing how to use them both together, and not just one, will help you tap into the power of Christ.

Many people will either let a message drive them, or let fear rule over them. Even worse, they will allow someone else’s message or fear rule over them. Brothers and sisters, this should not be so. [tweetthis]#YourVoiceMatters[/tweetthis] You cannot survive on message alone, as inspiration drains your tank empty. Fear from yourself or someone else will not sustain you, as it will paralyze you.

Your result: you stop carrying/speaking the message God gave you. Then you wonder if anyone is listening. But before self-inflicted fear claims its victory, ask yourself this question:

What difference would it make:
if you take the focus off yourself and base your fear on God? The power is not yours alone, it’s the power of God and from God. He chooses to use you and I as a vessel. Are we allowing ourselves to be vulnerable and fearfully available? True faith is when we put ourselves in the fearful hands of God. True worship is when we respond in sincerity to the fear of God.

So how do we rightly base our fear on God?
We have these Scriptures to serve as our roadmap… Prov. 9.10 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Prov. 8.1Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?” Psalm 29.4 “The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic.” Matt 13.16 “But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.” Matt. 4.23 “If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear.” Psalm 130.5 “I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.” Prov. 8.34-35 “Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. For those who find me find life and receive favor from the Lord.” Prov 15.33 “Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the Lord, and humility comes before honor.”

Finally, Luke 12.5 warns us: “But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.” No, if we are saved, God is not going to throw us to Hell; rather, we are to be reminded of not only our salvation, but what we are saved from. Fear: is the beginning of wisdom. The only one true fear is God Himself.

You Can’t Let ____ Stop You. Listen to One Voice who has called you by name. Only He gives the message and only he is to be feared. Take it from me, with an incredible quenched voice as i am today, my spirit is not because my fear is not. You have to get up and let God move you because no one else will.

What does this have to do with singing / worship leading? EVERYTHING.

Your fear in the Lord, the message Christ gave you and the worship you are to step/live in the Spirit is real. No one else will see it if you do not move. And it’s not because others need to see it, it’s because God desires you to share it.

Sing By That One Voice Do something BIG. Move. Don’t wait and let it pass you by. You don’t want to look back over years of regret only to wonder why it took you so long. If you start now, you’ll never go back. You will move ahead. Why am I saying this? Because I believe in you. God has compelled me to write you and show you this today. Sing with the voice God gave you as if today were your last.

How will anyone else hear the message God gave you if your lips are closed? Truth: listen by patience, speak in love, sing by grace. God already said: “so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Isa. 55.11 Be the co-laborer of this verse today: “as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.” Phil 2.16 So it starts here.

Actually, it began when you woke this morning. Fear God, speak His message and deliver truth my the melody of your soul and the grace from your heart. Even as I have lost my ability to speak, I have not lost my voice, nor my message, nor my calling. God had already ordained it. My responsibility is to fear Him, as I voice it and walk it. Now you.

It’s not a one-sided-video, self-help book or a “here, you need to do it this way…” It’s something that’s more practical, yet nothing you can get from anything else. It came from God and He’s given it to you.
