Hope In The Desert

A Door to Hope, A Well for Healing

Even in the hurt, in any failure, pain and loneliness or wandering, do you believe in the Living God who is able to heal you? Who still speaks to you, even if it seems like you can’t hear him in the silence, or in the noise?

We may feel rejected, excluded by the world and even tossed aside from people, but the truth is, His love will never let us go. When we experience pain and feel our hurt, God leads us into the valley. He calls us to come away. Why? So we may understand that we have a King who can sympathize with our hurt. And not only that, but he can take on our bruises and damage, He is the Great Shepard. He is here, especially now in this time.

He knows you by name, for he has called you to himself. Can you hear his whisper?

Some people may say: yeah, but God doesn’t speak to me, why would he? – I can truly understand why this can be said. It’s coming from a place of hurt. It’s derived from a place that is living in the wilderness. Does this mean that God is not speaking, or does it mean that we are so overwhelmed that we can’t stop ourselves to listen?

This is the very reason why God calls Israel to be led into the desert (Hosea 2.14). Much of the time when I find myself striving, it’s because I’m unwilling. I don’t want God to led me into the desert. I am too tired to walk as it causes discomfort. But maybe, just maybe, this is right where God wants us – in the desert.

“for I will refresh the weary soul and replenish all who are weak.” – Jer 31.25

A desert is a place of solitude. It is a dry, barren area of land, that is characteristically desolate, waterless, and without vegetation. Mainly, a desert is a territory without moisture.

So if God is leading us into a barren land, when we are already in pain, why is He taking us there?

So that he can restore us with His True Water, Jesus the Living Well of our souls.

“but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4.14

God wants to remind you of where your restoration of hope and reservoir of healing comes from. Not from ourselves, not from the world, not even from our own self-medications, true healing comes from the One True God.

Take it from me. I have lived more than 30 years with depression. I’ve lived in many deserts, but I’ve also experienced many streams of waters. In this part of my life, God has shown me the greatness of His waters, the wonder of His love and the true intimacy of His fellowship that has led me to healing. And you know what the truth is? He was always there.

“The LORD will always guide you; He will satisfy you in a sun-scorched land and strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.” Isa 58.11

Be led once again to the place where you can hear His tender call of love. By His grace, he renews our hearts to sing of His praise. He is the one who frees us from our wilderness, so we can give thanks, and be bounded to our First Love, who came to save us.

“Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her.” Hosea 2.14

This is a test from the emergency broadcast system – this is only a test! While it is easy for any ministry to become its own silo, God has called us to a bigger role. We share the ministry of the church as one body, yet many members. However, what do you do when people in your church, members of your team or staff, act as if they want nothing to do with you until Sunday? It would be unfavorable to have one ministry be placed over another. It isSEE DETAILS
