Here is Your Verse of the Week

Question of the Week

What kind of singer does it take to lead worship?

Sing

Our Worship Team Training University Members KNOW …..

When we sing, it is not for ourselves, but for God. He gives everyone the ability to sing. Singing is both an expression of worship and a response of the soul.

We pray to God, proclaim to people, convey our feelings and make known our words when we sing. Everyone has the ability to sing – in some way –  through our joys and sorrows, celebration and pain, the human voice conducts melodies that personifies the heart. It also has a way of inspiring and nurturing the spirit when the sound of singing is heard.

Singing has a way of also bringing comfort. No matter if we hear the sound of singing, or conduct it ourselves, singing has a spiritual richness that brings consolation and serenity.

To sing is not to be taken for granted. Some drag themselves into church, only to mumble words and tones during worship. Others make excuses of the fact that they cannot sing.

Also, there are people who have the gift of singing, but are weighed down by their own expectations or the expectations of others. But God intended singing to be free – not stifled, not constricted, not to be compared, nor to be condemned.

Singing is more of a spiritual thing unto God, not a mechanical thing unto man. As we understand about more worship, it is for God; so is the gift of singing. At the same time, singing to one another is also a way of sharing encouragement. God uses our singing to not only spur on one another, but uses it to unify His Body.

When we look into Scripture, we see from our key verse of this week: “I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.” – Psalms 104:33 ESV

Also we see in other section where the Psalmist says: “May my tongue sing of your word, for all your commands are righteous.” – Psalm 119.172

It is clear from Scripture that God takes singing seriously. In the Old Testament, singing was used for triumphant processions, battles, praise and desperate prayers to God. In the New Testament we see singing in various ways through: in the ancient early church, in common gatherings, in solo prayer and in the dungeons of prison.

Did you know that in many of the Psalms, David and/or the writers of the Psalms, begin with this proclamation as the heading of certain chapters that say: “To the Choir Master” “To The Grand Concert Master,” “For the Director of Music.”

The fact is God is the voice of the songs we sing to Him.

What is the difference between a song leader and a worship leader? If there is worship unto God from the leading, or among those who participate, then He is praised by those who direct their love to Him.

What’s the difference/is there a difference in the terms worship leader and a worship vocalist?

Our good friend Rick Muchow said: “Singing is breathing”

As you are led this week, be in prayer, worship in Spirit and in Truth, and most of all, sing your praises to God.
