Walking Away Or Walking In Worship?

3-21-16 devo#3-21-16 #WorshipDevotional #WalkingInWorship Each week when we walk away from Sunday, are we confident from the worship we led? It’s a common thought” “Did I give the Lord my best?” or “Did I lead the people well?” The questions are in fact good, because they help us stay in tune with what the Lord is doing.

Get Up, Not Get Down
It’s too easy to feel the “I’m not good enough” feelings. God desires you to live life abundantly, not in half, but in full. How can we do this? Recognize that are dependency is in Christ, not in our position. In our key Scripture of Phil 3.12, Paul says to move on.

If Paul’s focus was on the prize apart from Christ, we would have every reason to be concerned with the past. So he does the opposite, he puts everything behind. He was not content with his past work, success or failure in comparison to the grace of Christ. He reaches forward, points himself in the way of Jesus, to become more and more like Him – this is the real Prize.

Be Who you are in Christ
God has called you to be real. He has granted you the skill and gifted you to lead as you are – not like someone else. All of us are filled with inadequacies and imperfections. So what do we do? Learn from the failures and learn to move forward.

If God has called you to run the race, you can’t win if your still standing at the starting line. We must never stop short of the race, even though we may feel like it. Feelings will come and go, but praise be to God that our relationship is not dependent on our feelings. Allow God to use your emotions to gear yourself ahead towards Him.

Put Yesterday Behind, Move Forward Ahead
We don’t lead worship in a vacuum. It goes to God, not somewhere in oblivion without purpose. There’s no crossing the finishline in our endeavors, except to be with the Lord Jesus. As we seek His assurance in our leading abilities, we also crucify sin, doubt and the things that hold us down.

We are to make a conscience thought and effort to set our hearts on what God values, not the success of the world and not even the outward success of the church. If we choose the prize of the world, or even the things we prize as worship leaders, that will be all we will have.

Nor are we to be perfect, nor have we already attained, but we press on in the goal of Christ. When you set your heart on His values, other people witness your goals as well. No longer are you concerned about the outward appearance, nor look of the service. You are focused on the Eternal and keep it there as a reminder for people.
