Live To Worship

As a Worship Leader, are you concerned if people are not singing? Is worship dependent on you or on the Holy Spirit? No matter how we may feel, worship is life; and our lives are hidden in Christ. He has called you to not only lead worship, but to live it.

Read on and Watch today’s show to hear from our local worship leader guest to see how they live-out God’s calling to live and lead worship.

Bottom line: If your idea is to make great worship without people in mind, then don’t be called a Worship Leader.

Worship Is…

When our Lord spoke with the woman at the well, Jesus defined specifically what kind of person our Heavenly Father is seeking in worship. “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24.

God is looking for something far more than just people singing out loud on a Sunday morning. He is seeking those who call and sing to Him with a pure heart – daily.

Worship Begins With God

First, realize that worship begins with God. Your spiritual life must be something that goes beyond your time spent on stage. Worship begins in your personal life, and your relationship with God, long before you ever step in front of the congregation on a Sunday morning. It begins in the Garden.

If there is a disconnect from your personal life on stage and your spiritual well being, then you are living a life that is not fully satisfied in the grace of God; and you are living a life in which you are not fully satisfied with all the Lord could have for you. Like walking through the garden and ignoring all the beauty in which God created, is what it feels like when you go through the motions.

So the question comes personally to you: “Are you, as a Worship Leader, really worshiping … or are you just going through the motions?” What does it truly mean to “worship?” To find our answer, let’s go to the very first verse and the very first chapter in God’s Word. “In the beginning, God” Genesis 1. Now, that statement is a mystery in itself, isn’t it? Nothing preceded God and nothing came after God.

We don’t even know how He came into being. We just know what Scripture says: “In the beginning, God.” He is the Creator, and we are the created. He is the Alpha and the Omega. He is The Beginning and The End. He is great and we are small.

If we truly believe that God is the Beginning and we are long after, then: What we offer in worship is a response to God Himself.  [ctt template=”6″ link=”7Pl1I” via=”no” ] What we offer in worship is a response to God Himself.[/ctt]

Our Response to Worship

We respond to who He is and how he has revealed himself through Scripture and in life. A worshipful response is another way of saying “Thank You,” for what He’s already begun to work and create in our lives. Worship begins as a response to who God is, what He’s done, doing and will do.

Oftentimes, I hear people express about worship as being something in which they “call God down” to meet with us, one on one. But, aren’t they forgetting something? God is already here. He was/is always here.

He is omnipresent and is with us all the time. [ctt template=”10″ link=”dv1Vw” via=”no” ]We aren’t worshiping a god that we are hoping will somehow, somewhere, sometime just “show up.”[/ctt]

We serve a God Who is already here. Worship isn’t limited to singing or the song set before the sermon. Rather as an act of continual prayer, worship is meant to fill each moment of every day 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

Go To Worship

With this in mind, would you rather go to worship, or rather go through the motions? Make the motion of going to worship, follow the Lord’s leadership and take the people with you.
