GUEST BIO: ALEX AVILA

Alex Avila has been involved with music and ministry for almost 20 years. He learned to play drums by copying the beats in the songs he listened to and eventually learned theory playing in school bands. He has helped lead worship all over the world with various artists and bands. From 2015-2017, he was the tour drummer for the Gospel Reggae band, Christafari, playing in over 20 countries and 6 continents including headlining a show for over 100,000 people in Brazil. In 2017, he felt God calling him to leave the band to move to Thailand and become a full time missionary. He currently leads the men’s discipleship and mentoring program at Shear Love International, an anti-trafficking organization that offers vocational training and restorative care for men and women trying to leave or rescued from the sex industry in Thailand. His heart is to not only use music to restore and heal survivors of trafficking and exploitation but to also equip churches for excellence in worship & music ministry and encourage them to become active in pursuing justice.
