Worship Wars?

As a worship leader, do you ever get caught in the middle of a worship war? Scrolling through Facebook it doesn’t take very long before coming across someone in favor of one particular worship style talking poorly about another worship style.

You have heard it all before: Traditional style is passionless, has no heart, is to cold. Modern worship music is too shallow, it’s all about emotion, there’s no depth to it.

Is this idea of worship wars still going on today? What should our response be when faced with this problem in our own church, or between worship leader friends? What does the Bible say about stylistic arguments?

Learn how to navigate the dangerous waters of the worship wars happening in your community, and how to gain peaceful and loving relationships through worship.

Worship Wars?

As a worship leader, have you had to navigate the worship wars among your church? If you have, then you know the toll it can take on your worship services.

Worship wars can happen outside of the church as well, sometime even between worship leaders as they compare their style of worship with others. There are those who think more traditional churches are too stoic, a lack of passion. Of course you have heard it said that modern worship is too shallow, or just mere entertainment.

Join this week’s guest, Troy Kennedy, for a great discussion on how to put an end to these worship wars, and what it means to live at peace as the family of God.

#InspiredToLead

Why Do You Lead Worship?

As a worship leader, do you often struggle with having the proper motivation? You lead worship every week, but do you ever ask yourself why? Am I doing this for the right reason?

Our guest this week is Stephen Miller, who has written about this very topic. He says, “Often the motives are mixed. You find yourself wanting to point people to Jesus but also feeling a desire to be noticed and praised, to make yourself the center of attention.

Maybe you want to make the best possible music for the most possible people but you find yourself leading a modest congregation in an unglamorous place. These mixed motivations can be difficult to unravel and can cause significant conflict, both internal and external.”

Learn the proper motivation to lead worship, whole-hearted and whole-minded exalting of God, rather than making a spectacle out of it.
