Worship Is Not A Number

How are we connecting?

Worship is not about how many people show up to your worship service. Worship is not about one-uping other churches and trying to get ahead. Worship is not about what songs you sing, or even who sings or doesn’t sing.

When we shift our focus from God to the details of the service, we reprioritize the worship of God to things that are not as equivelent.

Worship is about God as it begins and ends with Him – not us. #Psalm68.32 says “Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth, sing praise to the Lord,”

This statement is not a lofty idea, but a serious command. In this passage, the Psalmists declares that all kingdoms – all people of the earth are to praise Him. God does not measure our worth based on the size of our church, ministries or the things we build. Worship is about God as it begins and ends with Him – not us.

God is already present, the question is: do we show up?

The Bible says to praise – it’s an exhortation and loving instruction. God is not looking through your social feed first to make sure everything is perfect. Rather, He is looking for you as his love perfects the imperfections.

Because of this great mercy through Jesus, he accepts our worship by the work of the cross – not by our works from our platforms. Neither does God compare our smallness to someone else.

The worship of God is immeasurable. As we are here on the earth, connecting to each other virtually and streaming services, all of our praises Him belong to Him.

God cares for people, and desires to hear all his children sing. So worship him this day before the streaming begins – and after.

The worship of God is cross-cultural, cross-denominational, cross-generational and cross-preferential. The Lord is zealous of His praise. He is no more moved by a certain number of voices, than he is by a single heart who is repentant and sincere in their worship.

Our giving of praise is to be an offering to Him because no one else is worthy. As far as leading worship to the One in your church: let your focus not be on who’s connecting to your stream, but how your stream is connecting to God.

God desires your worship and your leading to be authentic: “Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. … Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing.” #Psalm100.2

In Christ, your worship is acceptable to the Lord. Joy comes from the Living Word living in us. There is no greater song to sing. A heart that has been brought out of darkness into His marvelous light is worth singing about.

For this is what the Lord seeks: a thankful and penitent heart.

We connect and stream worship for the glory of God, Not for the glory of man. It’s time to get out of the numbers and back to the basics.

Worship is a response. It is an action. It is responding to God according to His Word – giving praise, worth and glory, along with thanksgiving to God alone.

This is a test from the emergency broadcast system – this is only a test! While it is easy for any ministry to become its own silo, God has called us to a bigger role. We share the ministry of the church as one body, yet many members. However, what do you do when people in your church, members of your team or staff, act as if they want nothing to do with you until Sunday? It would be unfavorable to have one ministry be placed over another. It isSEE DETAILS
