The Worship Priority / Monday Podcast Ep. 201

Worship that God cares about.
Choosing to worship God humbly and acceptably.

Worship First, Lead Second
Colossians 3:17; Psalm 138:1-3; 1 Chronicles 16:23-24

“What if I’m not singing on the team this Sunday?” This is what I told some worship teams in a recent Worship Team Training event in Buffalo,New York: you’re both a worshiper and a servant. So why do we beat our heads against thewall? It’s not about us on stage. God is calling you to a deeper relationship with Himself. It doesn’tstart on the stage; it begins in the heart.

How many of you are wishing that God would bring your worship team to the next level? We practice, try and sweat.

Sometimes it feels like the U2 song “Beautiful Day” – The trafficis stuck and you’re not moving anywhere.

We do get stuck. It’s human. It’s real. The key is how you handle it. In your congregation, people are watching you for the same reason. They too, are wondering if you are transparent. They want to know if you are as real as they are to work through emotions, hardships andfeelings.

Sometimes we tend to forget that we are leaders even when we’re not leading.People need encouragement. This may be why God has you seated right there in the congregation, because of the person next to you.

If you remember one thing: you are a worshiper first and a leader second.

God has placed you uniquely in the place you may not like because He has bigger plans.

Really! Think about the prophets: Jonah, Noah, Moses, Amos and so forth. These brotherswere placed in unthinkable places. But as they kept their head down and the faith up, theywitnessed the miracles of God.

They led worship the right way: demonstrating the love of God among people.

So, what IF you’re not singing this Sunday? You can still worship and you can still lead…right where you are.
