Worship Whiplash, Re-shaping Church Services | Podcast Ep. 218

The new era of leading ministry?

The Reshaping of Worship Services

Remember when Sunday Services were so simple? Even on a day when things went wrong, they did not seem as complex as now. Ironically, church worship faces brand new challenges such as: new streaming services, lack of volunteer-power, dwindling funds, demotivation and trying to keep up. While there are countless ad-ons to this list, I will offer five solutions to help your ministry survive through these times.

1. Surviving Streaming
- Embrace the Screen - it's here to stay
- Don't look at the camera, look at the potential

"I’ve only led once during this season, but played guitar on the team several times. I have to admit, leading to a mostly empty room is pretty weird! I guess I’m used to gauging my effectiveness in leadership by observing how the congregation is responding. Can’t really do that with an online only service. I’ve had to remind myself that since the Lord is our primary focus as “lead worshippers”, I can worship just as exuberantly whether or not the congregation is visibly present."

- Because you don't see a crowd, does not mean there isn't
- Your worth is not based on the number of likes or comments
Colossians 3:17

2. Multiplying Volunteers
- No, they don't grow on trees
- Yes, you can delegate
- Yes, you can teach them
- Yes, you do not have to do this alone
Ephesians 4:1

3. Working Up When Funds Are Down

"My struggle is that we have done this on a shoestring with the tech that we have. I still struggle each week to get volunteers, and now that the leadership has blessed us going forward with getting some updated equipment (Because Live Streaming isn't ever going away) I am even more concerned I will not have the people to run all of this new equipment."

- You don't need the new camera...yet
- Make quality with what you have
- Spend money on what your church prioritizes
- Be patient and hard working
Psalm 127:2

4. Re-motivation of Your Vocation
- Learn to give up things that are holding you back
- Listen to the voice of God, not the voice of "thus says..."
- Know that you are called, capable and can thrive
- Don't settle
- Dream big and win big
- Believe how God is working in you
John 14:1

5. Don't Just Keep Up, Aim Up
- Failures are experiences - they root your success
- Be adaptable to unplanned outcomes
- Learn from the outcomes
- Failure shapes you

Ministry is not a point of arrival
    - It's a point to go to others
    - It's a point to learn from others
    - It's a point to trust God when times are low
    - Its a point to gain understanding
    - It's a point to direct all praise to God
