PART II.

True worship transforms true relationships. What do you do when someone quits?

No matter the circumstance in our teams, understanding relationships gives a better understanding of worship to God. But there is something more going on than the person who wants to quit. What can you do to reconcile even if it’s not your fault?

@WorshipTT @BranonDempsey

STUDY NOTES:

  1. What you can do about it?
  • Do what Paul instructed Philemon – Phil 1.5 – because I hear about your love for all his holy people and your faith in the Lord Jesus
  • The letter of Paul to Philemon deals with a particular problem in Phielmon’s personal affairs. The story is about one of his slaves, Onesimus, is returning from Paul to his master. The letter advises Philemon to welcome his slave with open arms, even as he would welcome Paul.
  • True worship transforms true relationships. If Philemon praises God as His Father – how could he not receive Onesimus as his Prather in Christ?
  • As Paul proclaimed in Gal. 3.28 – God loves and justifies and adopts people, regardless of social circumstances. Though we will encounter hardships as move through life, our circumstances never separate us from the love of God
  • Neither should our love for people, be separated – especially by social dynamics and under-pending circumstances in the church – love must win and we must be reconciled to each other.
  1. What your team can do about it?
  • Col 3.14 – put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity
  • The more we genuinely encounter God in worship, the more every other part of life including our relationships, will be transformed by His presence and grace
  • Love must win. This as Paul’s grandest message to Philemon – Recieve him back, and also recieve me (Phil 1.22 – he says prepare a place for me, I want to be a guest to you. I hope to be restored to you – in answer to your prayers
  • Paul is showing Philemon what it means to worship God fully, by providing an understanding of what it means to receive others fully.
  1. How to love the person through it?
  • What a wonderful lesson to learn how to praise God
  • In the way we are to love others, we see in a window of how God loves us
  • Loving people through the circumstance does not define how great we are, it shows us how God’s love is defined in how great He is.
  • James 5.16 – therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed – the prayers of a righteous man
  • Even if the person who left does not do so out of a negative issue, love them as though the lived in your house.
  • Be there to serve them in their time of need.

Conclusion:

Our Heavenly Father sees us completely and entirely in love. Like Onesimus, we were once a fugitive.

We ran from God. We ran from the ones we loved. In some way, we ran from our families, we ran from our school and work, we ran from our church.

Because of our disobedience to God, we did not deserve anything but death. But, in His favor to love, we were given life in Jesus Christ.

He interceded on our behalf. He paid the price for our sins. He made it possible to be rescued, restored and to return as one from the ninty-nine.Because He has now reconciled us to God in Jesus Christ, we now carry the message of reconciliation.

So love the quitter, Be with them – no matter the circumstance, and be ready to bring them back a into the fold of God.
