“Goonies Never Say Die!” | Podcast Ep. 211

Worship in a Post-COVID World.

Remember the Goonies?  Some of us feel strange being outside our churches, while others feel estranged from ministry. How do you cope, how do you overcome? The Goonies motto may be good enough for some, but our anthem in Jesus Christ is better and breaks every stronghold.

A group of young misfits called The Goonies discover an ancient map and set out on an adventure to find a legendary pirate's long-lost treasure.

And let's not forget "Sloth"!

So maybe none of us threatened by developers who want to build a golf course in the place of our homes and neighborhood.

Not many of us have been on an ancient treasure hunt or have found a treasure from One-Eye'd-Willie.
What has happened to us all?

The COVID tragedy:
Yet Jesus is our Captain and Rescue
Through this storm!
Last Week:
we talked about getting the band back together.
Plus, the returning of the church.
Now we will talk about the First Sundays back

The First of Sundays Will Change:
Will things look different?
Will we know how to function?
What will worship look like?

Things Will Look Strange
1. People are still people - don't mistake the needs
2. The methods of ministry is now different
3. Rehearsals for our teams
4. Services on Sunday
5. The future? Probably half-scattered

How Do We Cope As Leaders?
1. First, take time for you
2. Pray, process and persevere
3. Bring everything into inventory (spiritually)
4. Don't strive for conquering the world (One Eye'd Willie photo)
5. Learn to get through one day at a time
How Through Christ Do We Overcome?
1. Worship and the Word
2. Together: how do we treat another?
3. Serving above yourself
4. Expect the unexpected

Above all
Don't sweat the small stuff
Know things will be different but ok
Methods will need to change, worship doesn't
The needs will be greater, but simpler
During this time, God pulls us closer
To seek His treasure alone: Jesus Christ
