Longing For Joy

As a worship leader, does joy ever escape you? Are there moments when the heaviness of your role weighs you down? If so, you are not alone. Everyone in ministry carries a heavy load. There is a longing for peace and joy. How do you gain the needed confidence to make your joy complete?

God offers us that joy only through relying on Him when things get overwhelming. The antidote for heaviness is praise. When we praise God with thankfulness in the midst of trials, our spirits are lifted, and our sorrow turns to joy.

Praise Comes From A Thankful Heart

Praise is the offering of a thankful heart, among God’s people in His faithful gathering. We lift up the name of the Lord. How good it is to know that our Sovereign Lord hears every cry for mercy and out of His tenderness, He lifts us up and sets our feet on a rock to stand.“But You, Sovereign Lord , help me for Your name’s sake; out of the goodness of Your love, deliver me.”#Psalm109.21The phrase “but You, Sovereign Lord,” is a declaration, a recognition of God’s absolute power and authority. Nothing, nothing slips past His hands, nor escapes his sight. He knows all and delivers all for His name’s sake. This is why we are thankful because it is God’s character to love, nature to be kind, merciful to heal and faithful to forgive as He keeps all His promises.

The Craftsman Shapes UsThe hard work of the Craftsman is to shape us. We are not crushed because the pressing we feel is in His hands; the darkness we see is the folding of His robe around us.“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;” #2Cor4.8He forms and fashions us to be the workmanship of Jesus, for the praise of His glory. He restores our hearts and minds so we may act and think like the love of Christ. Because of this, we are never left alone nor in despair. His life is revealed in the body – so life is at work in you.Our Joy is Complete
He returns our joy as He is making us new. “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” #John15.11
